What are some cute baby shower gift ideas?

New parents are often overwhelmed with gifts for the baby at one or more baby showers before the baby is born and with new arrival gifts after the baby is born. Although ideas for cute baby shower gifts are fun to brainstorm, it's important to have an awareness of the actual needs or wants of the parents-to-be. Ask whether they are registered at any particular store, and if so, consult the registry to see what purchases still need to be made. It may also be a cute idea to give a gift that is meant for use by the parents instead of the baby. A spa day, movie tickets, free babysitting or a supply of frozen meals can come in handy for new parents who may be overworked, exhausted and in sore need of a little time for themselves every now and then.

Luxury in Laos at Amantaka's Stunning Luang Prabang Estate

Photos Credit: Aman Resorts It wouldn’t be an Aman property without spectacular grounds, an unbelievably spiritual essence , or a UNESCO World Heritage address . Amantaka, located smack dab in the center of Laos’ UNESCO- protected Luang Prabang , has all three attributes. This resort is a true jewel of Aman’s expanding collection. I traveled to Myanmar and Laos recently and purposely made a stop in Luang Prabang just to experience this Aman. I’m only disappointed that I didn’t visit sooner.  Amantaka, so named after  tipitaka , meaning “the teaching of the Buddha,” has a trace of elegant transcendence. I grew up on the Mississippi River , in Rock Island, Ill. I knew of the river's moods and might but always took it for granted. And yet I'd long wondered what it would be like to travel the Mississippi from source to sea — in a canoe. So, after a decade of imagining and a year of serious preparation, I and three other retired graybeards from suburban Chicago — Tim Clark, Tom Lobacz and Bill Baar — headed north in late May to put in at the Mississippi's headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minn. The river begins as a baby stream gurgling past 25 feet of stones that permit you to "walk across the Mississippi" which, of course, we do. A webcam allows people to watch the "walkers" from afar.
