“The hunger is back” – Arsenal fans react as Jack Wilshere is sent-off vs. Man City U23’s
Jack Wilshere saw red for Arsenal U23’s against their Manchester City counterparts on Monday night.
The 25-year-old was named in a strong Gunners side – which included Rob Holding as well as impressive youngsters such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson – at the Emirates Stadium and it’s safe to say the midfielder had an interesting outing.
In a search for important game time in a bid to return to full fitness following yet another injury setback last season, Wilshere’s evening last just 63 minutes as he was shown a straight red card after pushing City youngster Matthew Smith to the floor.

Reacting to what he perceived was a strong tackle from the City player, Wilshere momentarily lost control and sparked a mini scuffle between the two sets of players before being pulled away and ushered down the tunnel for an early bath.
This incident marred what was a promising showing from Wilshere. He looked good on the ball and even registered an assist for one of Eddie Nketiah’s goals as the Gunners ran out 4-3 winners in north London.
How this affects Wilshere’s chances of forcing his way back into Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans remains to be seen but there was a split reaction among fans on Twitter…
The good….

Jack Wilshere does a lot of wrong, I just don't think reacting to a late tackle after coming back from another long injury is one of them

Wilshere will get the headlines for the red card but don't be fooled. Very good performance with drive, dribbling and passing from midfield.

The bad…
Wilshere fighting on the pitch with 15/16 year olds. Pathetic what he's become.

Any Arsenal fan that backs Wilshere's actions in that game should head straight for the bin. Thanks.

Jack Wilshere was sent off while playing for Arsenal U23. Can't make this stuff up

I am such a typical Arsenal fan. I've seen Wilshere run rings around 18 yr olds and I think he's back. I am what's dragging this club down.
